Rowing on the erg is one of the most efficient exercises there is. A workout for your cardiovascular system, and it uses every muscle in your body. But, like anything, proper technique matters. Understanding the physics and the rhythm of a perfect stroke is the key to reducing the risk of injury, and increasing efficiency. This three hour workshop will use ergs, kettlebells and even barbells to learn the form and sequencing of a perfect rowing stroke. But don't worry, you won't be working out for 3 hours straight. You'll be watching, learning and working with a partner. We promise, you'll be able to move the next day, but you'll also get a workout for both your body and your brain. Martin Hough is a lifelong athlete and rower. He began rowing in high school at the urging of his science teacher who became his coach and mentor. After graduating from Claremont Graduate University with a Masters degree in psychology he began his love affair with coaching and applying his studies to rowing. Currently Martin coaches introductory courses at Everett Rowing Association and has coached adults and children at boathouses nationwide. He is also building a mentor based coaching development program for boathouses with competitive junior teams.
