Bar Curious?

Are you Bar Curious?

You've seen barbells, but don't know what do to with them? You've been doing boot camp style workouts for a while but want a little something more, but barbells seem, well, scary? The only thing you really know about them is from high school, as those things that other people do. Scary people. People who are more athletic than you? Or do they just seem some foreboding combination of dangerous, hard and utterly foreign?

In reality barbells are safe, stable and pretty darn useful for all sorts of things. In the last 5 years at Rocket, we've been using them with people as young as 9 and old as "70-something." We use them for lifting, rolling, stabilizing. And we think you should too.

This 90-minute intro to barbells will show you why we love barbells and how to use them safely.

We will introduce the Back Squat, Deadlift and Strict Press, as well as sneaky ways to use the bar for core-stability work. (By the way, all lifting is dependent on core stability. People always ask us if we do "core," yes, we do, we do it with barbells.)  We will be discussing basic points of performance and safety, so that wherever you find barbells, you won't be afraid. You won't be an expert or anything, but we'll show you proper form, and hopefully inspire you to take advantage of this awesome tool.

We will NOT be exploring the Olympic lifts in this class at all. (Snatch and Clean & Jerk. Those are, indeed, more complicated and need a basic underlying understanding of form before you go there.....)
